1 The vision2377 of Obadiah.5662 Thus3541 saith559 the Lord136 God3069 concerning Edom;123 We have heard8085 a rumor8052 from4480 854 the Lord,3068 and an ambassador6735 is sent7971 among the heathen,1471 Arise6965 ye, and let us rise up6965 against5921 her in battle.4421
2 Behold,2009 I have made5414 thee small6996 among the heathen:1471 thou859 art greatly3966 despised.959
3 The pride2087 of thine heart3820 hath deceived5377 thee, thou that dwellest7931 in the clefts2288 of the rock,5553 whose habitation7675 is high;4791 that saith559 in his heart,3820 Who4310 shall bring me down3381 to the ground?776
4 Though518 thou exalt1361 thyself as the eagle,5404 and though518 thou set7760 thy nest7064 among996 the stars,3556 thence4480 8033 will I bring thee down,3381 saith5002 the Lord.3068
5 If518 thieves1590 came935 to thee, if518 robbers7703 by night,3915 (how349 art thou cut off!)1820 would they not3808 have stolen1589 till they had enough?1767 if518 the grape gatherers1219 came935 to thee, would they not3808 leave7604 some grapes?5955

8 Shall I not3808 in that1931 day,3117 saith5002 the Lord,3068 even destroy6 the wise2450 men out of Edom,4480 123 and understanding8394 out of the mount4480 2022 of Esau?6215
9 And thy mighty1368 men, O Teman,8487 shall be dismayed,2865 to the end that4616 every one376 of the mount4480 2022 of Esau6215 may be cut off3772 by slaughter.4480 6993
10 For thy violence4480 2555 against thy brother251 Jacob3290 shame955 shall cover3680 thee, and thou shalt be cut off3772 forever.5769

12 But thou shouldest not408 have looked7200 on the day3117 of thy brother251 in the day3117 that he became a stranger;5237 neither408 shouldest thou have rejoiced8055 over the children1121 of Judah3063 in the day3117 of their destruction;6 neither408 shouldest thou have spoken proudly1431 6310 in the day3117 of distress.6869
13 Thou shouldest not408 have entered935 into the gate8179 of my people5971 in the day3117 of their calamity;343 yea,1571 thou859 shouldest not408 have looked7200 on their affliction7451 in the day3117 of their calamity,343 nor408 have laid7971 hands on their substance2428 in the day3117 of their calamity;343
14 Neither408 shouldest thou have stood5975 in5921 the crossway,6563 to cut off3772 853 those of his that did escape;6412 neither408 shouldest thou have delivered up5462 those of his that did remain8300 in the day3117 of distress.6869
15 For3588 the day3117 of the LORD3068 is near7138 upon5921 all3605 the heathen:1471 as834 thou hast done,6213 it shall be done6213 unto thee: thy reward1576 shall return7725 upon thine own head.7218
16 For3588 as834 ye have drunk8354 upon5921 my holy6944 mountain,2022 so shall all3605 the heathen1471 drink8354 continually,8548 yea, they shall drink,8354 and they shall swallow down,3886 and they shall be1961 as though they had not3808 been.1961
17 But upon mount2022 Zion6726 shall be1961 deliverance,6413 and there shall be1961 holiness;6944 and the house1004 of Jacob3290 shall possess3423 853 their possessions.4180
18 And the house1004 of Jacob3290 shall be1961 a fire,784 and the house1004 of Joseph3130 a flame,3852 and the house1004 of Esau6215 for stubble,7179 and they shall kindle1814 in them, and devour398 them; and there shall not3808 be1961 any remaining8300 of the house1004 of Esau;6215 for3588 the LORD3068 hath spoken1696 it.
19 And they of the south5045 shall possess3423 853 the mount2022 of Esau;6215 and they of the plain8219 853 the Philistines:6430 and they shall possess3423 853 the fields7704 of Ephraim,669 and the fields7704 of Samaria:8111 and Benjamin1144 shall possess 853 Gilead.1568
20 And the captivity1546 of this2088 host2426 of the children1121 of Israel3478 shall possess that834 of the Canaanites,3669 even unto5704 Zarephath;6886 and the captivity1546 of Jerusalem,3389 which834 is in Sepharad,5614 shall possess3423 853 the cities5892 of the south.5045
21 And saviors3467 shall come up5927 on mount2022 Zion6726 to judge8199 the 853 mount2022 of Esau;6215 and the kingdom4410 shall be1961 the LORD's.3068

1 ὅρασις Αβδιου τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῇ Ιδουμαίᾳ ἀκοὴν ἤκουσα παρὰ κυρίου καὶ περιοχὴν εἰς τὰ ἔθνη ἐξαπέστειλεν ἀνάστητε καὶ ἐξαναστῶμεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὴν εἰς πόλεμον
2 ἰδοὺ ὀλιγοστὸν δέδωκά σε ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἠτιμωμένος σὺ εἶ σφόδρα
3 ὑπερηφανία τῆς καρδίας σου ἐπῆρέν σε κατασκηνοῦντα ἐν ταῖς ὀπαῖς τῶν πετρῶν ὑψῶν κατοικίαν αὐτοῦ λέγων ἐν καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ τίς με κατάξει ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν
4 ἐὰν μετεωρισθῇς ὡς ἀετὸς καὶ ἐὰν ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ἄστρων θῇς νοσσιάν σου ἐκεῖθεν κατάξω σε λέγει κύριος
5 εἰ κλέπται εἰσῆλθον πρὸς σὲ ἢ λῃσταὶ νυκτός ποῦ ἂν ἀπερρίφης οὐκ ἂν ἔκλεψαν τὰ ἱκανὰ ἑαυτοῖς καὶ εἰ τρυγηταὶ εἰσῆλθον πρὸς σέ οὐκ ἂν ὑπελίποντο ἐπιφυλλίδα
6 πῶς ἐξηρευνήθη Ησαυ καὶ κατελήμφθη αὐτοῦ τὰ κεκρυμμένα
7 ἕως τῶν ὁρίων σου ἐξαπέστειλάν σε πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες τῆς διαθήκης σου ἀντέστησάν σοι ἠδυνάσθησαν πρὸς σὲ ἄνδρες εἰρηνικοί σου ἔθηκαν ἔνεδρα ὑποκάτω σου οὐκ ἔστιν σύνεσις αὐτοῖς
8 ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ λέγει κύριος ἀπολῶ σοφοὺς ἐκ τῆς Ιδουμαίας καὶ σύνεσιν ἐξ ὄρους Ησαυ
9 καὶ πτοηθήσονται οἱ μαχηταί σου οἱ ἐκ Θαιμαν ὅπως ἐξαρθῇ ἄνθρωπος ἐξ ὄρους Ησαυ
10 διὰ τὴν σφαγὴν καὶ τὴν ἀσέβειαν τὴν εἰς τὸν ἀδελφόν σου Ιακωβ καὶ καλύψει σε αἰσχύνη καὶ ἐξαρθήσῃ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα
11 ἀφ᾽ ἧς ἡμέρας ἀντέστης ἐξ ἐναντίας ἐν ἡμέρᾳ αἰχμαλωτευόντων ἀλλογενῶν δύναμιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀλλότριοι εἰσῆλθον εἰς πύλας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ ἔβαλον κλήρους καὶ σὺ ἦς ὡς εἷς ἐξ αὐτῶν
12 καὶ μὴ ἐπίδῃς ἡμέραν ἀδελφοῦ σου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἀλλοτρίων καὶ μὴ ἐπιχαρῇς ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ιουδα ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἀπωλείας αὐτῶν καὶ μὴ μεγαλορρημονήσῃς ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεως
13 μηδὲ εἰσέλθῃς εἰς πύλας λαῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πόνων αὐτῶν μηδὲ ἐπίδῃς καὶ σὺ τὴν συναγωγὴν αὐτῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ὀλέθρου αὐτῶν μηδὲ συνεπιθῇ ἐπὶ τὴν δύναμιν αὐτῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἀπωλείας αὐτῶν
14 μηδὲ ἐπιστῇς ἐπὶ τὰς διεκβολὰς αὐτῶν τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι τοὺς ἀνασῳζομένους αὐτῶν μηδὲ συγκλείσῃς τοὺς φεύγοντας ἐξ αὐτῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεως
15 διότι ἐγγὺς ἡμέρα κυρίου ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ὃν τρόπον ἐποίησας οὕτως ἔσται σοι τὸ ἀνταπόδομά σου ἀνταποδοθήσεται εἰς κεφαλήν σου
16 διότι ὃν τρόπον ἔπιες ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος τὸ ἅγιόν μου πίονται πάντα τὰ ἔθνη οἶνον πίονται καὶ καταβήσονται καὶ ἔσονται καθὼς οὐχ ὑπάρχοντες
17 ἐν δὲ τῷ ὄρει Σιων ἔσται ἡ σωτηρία καὶ ἔσται ἅγιον καὶ κατακληρονομήσουσιν ὁ οἶκος Ιακωβ τοὺς κατακληρονομήσαντας αὐτούς
18 καὶ ἔσται ὁ οἶκος Ιακωβ πῦρ ὁ δὲ οἶκος Ιωσηφ φλόξ ὁ δὲ οἶκος Ησαυ εἰς καλάμην καὶ ἐκκαυθήσονται εἰς αὐτοὺς καὶ καταφάγονται αὐτούς καὶ οὐκ ἔσται πυροφόρος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Ησαυ διότι κύριος ἐλάλησεν
19 καὶ κατακληρονομήσουσιν οἱ ἐν Ναγεβ τὸ ὄρος τὸ Ησαυ καὶ οἱ ἐν τῇ Σεφηλα τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους καὶ κατακληρονομήσουσιν τὸ ὄρος Εφραιμ καὶ τὸ πεδίον Σαμαρείας καὶ Βενιαμιν καὶ τὴν Γαλααδῖτιν
20 καὶ τῆς μετοικεσίας ἡ ἀρχὴ αὕτη τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ γῆ τῶν Χαναναίων ἕως Σαρεπτων καὶ ἡ μετοικεσία Ιερουσαλημ ἕως Εφραθα καὶ κληρονομήσουσιν τὰς πόλεις τοῦ Ναγεβ
21 καὶ ἀναβήσονται ἄνδρες σεσῳσμένοι ἐξ ὄρους Σιων τοῦ ἐκδικῆσαι τὸ ὄρος Ησαυ καὶ ἔσται τῷ κυρίῳ ἡ βασιλεία

1 חֲז֖וֹן עֹֽבַדְיָ֑ה כֹּֽה־אָמַר֩ אֲדֹנָ֨י יְהוִ֜ה לֶאֱד֗וֹם שְׁמוּעָ֨ה שָׁמַ֜עְנוּ מֵאֵ֤ת יְהוָה֙ וְצִיר֙ בַּגּוֹיִ֣ם שֻׁלָּ֔ח ק֛וּמוּ וְנָק֥וּמָה עָלֶ֖יהָ לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
2 הִנֵּ֥ה קָטֹ֛ן נְתַתִּ֖יךָ בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם בָּז֥וּי אַתָּ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃
3 זְד֤וֹן לִבְּךָ֙ הִשִּׁיאֶ֔ךָ שֹׁכְנִ֥י בְחַגְוֵי־סֶּ֖לַע מְר֣וֹם שִׁבְתּ֑וֹ אֹמֵ֣ר בְּלִבּ֔וֹ מִ֥י יוֹרִדֵ֖נִי אָֽרֶץ׃
4 אִם־תַּגְבִּ֣יהַּ כַּנֶּ֔שֶׁר וְאִם־בֵּ֥ין כּֽוֹכָבִ֖ים שִׂ֣ים קִנֶּ֑ךָ מִשָּׁ֥ם אוֹרִֽידְךָ֖ נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃
5 אִם־גַּנָּבִ֤ים בָּאֽוּ־לְךָ֙ אִם־שׁ֣וֹדְדֵי לַ֔יְלָה אֵ֣יךְ נִדְמֵ֔יתָה הֲל֥וֹא יִגְנְב֖וּ דַּיָּ֑ם אִם־בֹּֽצְרִים֙ בָּ֣אוּ לָ֔ךְ הֲל֖וֹא יַשְׁאִ֥ירוּ עֹלֵלֽוֹת׃
6 אֵ֚יךְ נֶחְפְּשׂ֣וּ עֵשָׂ֔ו נִבְע֖וּ מַצְפֻּנָֽיו׃
7 עַֽד־הַגְּב֣וּל שִׁלְּח֗וּךָ כֹּ֚ל אַנְשֵׁ֣י בְרִיתֶ֔ךָ הִשִּׁיא֛וּךָ יָכְל֥וּ לְךָ֖ אַנְשֵׁ֣י שְׁלֹמֶ֑ךָ לַחְמְךָ֗ יָשִׂ֤ימוּ מָזוֹר֙ תַּחְתֶּ֔יךָ אֵ֥ין תְּבוּנָ֖ה בּֽוֹ׃
8 הֲל֛וֹא בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא נְאֻם1 יְהוָ֑ה וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֤י חֲכָמִים֙ מֵֽאֱד֔וֹם וּתְבוּנָ֖ה מֵהַ֥ר עֵשָֽׂו׃
9 וְחַתּ֥וּ גִבּוֹרֶ֖יךָ תֵּימָ֑ן לְמַ֧עַן יִכָּֽרֶת־אִ֛ישׁ מֵהַ֥ר עֵשָׂ֖ו מִקָּֽטֶל׃
10 מֵחֲמַ֛ס אָחִ֥יךָ יַעֲקֹ֖ב תְּכַסְּךָ֣ בוּשָׁ֑ה וְנִכְרַ֖תָּ לְעוֹלָֽם׃
11 בְּיוֹם֙ עֲמָֽדְךָ֣ מִנֶּ֔גֶד בְּי֛וֹם שְׁב֥וֹת זָרִ֖ים חֵיל֑וֹ וְנָכְרִ֞ים בָּ֣אוּ שערו שְׁעָרָ֗יו וְעַל־יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ יַדּ֣וּ גוֹרָ֔ל גַּם־אַתָּ֖ה כְּאַחַ֥ד מֵהֶֽם׃
12 וְאַל־תֵּ֤רֶא בְיוֹם־אָחִ֙יךָ֙ בְּי֣וֹם נָכְר֔וֹ וְאַל־תִּשְׂמַ֥ח לִבְנֵֽי־יְהוּדָ֖ה בְּי֣וֹם אָבְדָ֑ם וְאַל־תַּגְדֵּ֥ל פִּ֖יךָ בְּי֥וֹם צָרָֽה׃
13 אַל־תָּב֤וֹא בְשַֽׁעַר־עַמִּי֙ בְּי֣וֹם אֵידָ֔ם אַל־תֵּ֧רֶא גַם־אַתָּ֛ה בְּרָעָת֖וֹ בְּי֣וֹם אֵיד֑וֹ וְאַל־תִּשְׁלַ֥חְנָה בְחֵיל֖וֹ בְּי֥וֹם אֵידֽוֹ׃
14 וְאַֽל־תַּעֲמֹד֙ עַל־הַפֶּ֔רֶק לְהַכְרִ֖ית אֶת־פְּלִיטָ֑יו וְאַל־תַּסְגֵּ֥ר שְׂרִידָ֖יו בְּי֥וֹם צָרָֽה׃
15 כִּֽי־קָר֥וֹב יוֹם־יְהוָ֖ה עַל־כָּל־הַגּוֹיִ֑ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשִׂ֙יתָ֙ יֵעָ֣שֶׂה לָּ֔ךְ גְּמֻלְךָ֖ יָשׁ֥וּב בְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃
16 כִּ֗י כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֤ר שְׁתִיתֶם֙ עַל־הַ֣ר קָדְשִׁ֔י יִשְׁתּ֥וּ כָֽל־הַגּוֹיִ֖ם תָּמִ֑יד וְשָׁת֣וּ וְלָע֔וּ וְהָי֖וּ כְּל֥וֹא הָיֽוּ׃
17 וּבְהַ֥ר צִיּ֛וֹן תִּהְיֶ֥ה פְלֵיטָ֖ה וְהָ֣יָה קֹ֑דֶשׁ וְיָֽרְשׁוּ֙1 בֵּ֣ית יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב אֵ֖ת מוֹרָֽשֵׁיהֶם׃1
18 וְהָיָה֩ בֵית־יַעֲקֹ֨ב אֵ֜שׁ וּבֵ֧ית יוֹסֵ֣ף לֶהָבָ֗ה וּבֵ֤ית עֵשָׂו֙ לְקַ֔שׁ וְדָלְק֥וּ בָהֶ֖ם וַאֲכָל֑וּם וְלֹֽא־יִֽהְיֶ֤ה3 שָׂרִיד֙ לְבֵ֣ית עֵשָׂ֔ו כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃
19 וְיָרְשׁ֨וּ הַנֶּ֜גֶב אֶת־הַ֣ר עֵשָׂ֗ו וְהַשְּׁפֵלָה֙ אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וְיָרְשׁוּ֙ אֶת־שְׂדֵ֣ה אֶפְרַ֔יִם וְאֵ֖ת שְׂדֵ֣ה שֹׁמְר֑וֹן וּבִנְיָמִ֖ן אֶת־הַגִּלְעָֽד׃
20 וְגָלֻ֣ת הַֽחֵל־הַ֠זֶּה לִבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל אֲשֶֽׁר־כְּנַעֲנִים֙ עַד־צָ֣רְפַ֔ת וְגָלֻ֥ת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּסְפָרַ֑ד יִֽרְשׁ֕וּ אֵ֖ת עָרֵ֥י הַנֶּֽגֶב׃
21 וְעָל֤וּ מֽוֹשִׁעִים֙ בְּהַ֣ר צִיּ֔וֹן לִשְׁפֹּ֖ט אֶת־הַ֣ר עֵשָׂ֑ו וְהָיְתָ֥ה לַֽיהוָ֖ה הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃

1 Visio Abdi. [Hc dicit Dominus Deus ad Edom:
Auditum audivimus a Domino,
et legatum ad gentes misit:
surgite, et consurgamus adversus eum in prlium.
2 Ecce parvulum dedi te in gentibus:
contemptibilis tu es valde.
3 Superbia cordis tui extulit te,
habitantem in scissuris petrarum,
exaltantem solium tuum;
qui dicis in corde tuo:
Quis detrahet me in terram?
4 Si exaltatus fueris ut aquila,
et si inter sidera posueris nidum tuum,
inde detraham te, dicit Dominus.
5 Si fures introissent ad te,
si latrones per noctem,
quomodo conticuisses?
nonne furati essent sufficientia sibi?
Si vindemiatores introissent ad te,
numquid saltem racemum reliquissent tibi?
6 Quomodo scrutati sunt Esau;
investigaverunt abscondita ejus?
7 Usque ad terminum emiserunt te:
omnes viri fderis tui illuserunt tibi:
invaluerunt adversum te viri pacis tu,
qui comedunt tecum, ponent insidias subter te;
non est prudentia in eo.
8 Numquid non in die illa, dicit Dominus,
perdam sapientes de Iduma,
et prudentiam de monte Esau?
9 Et timebunt fortes tui a meridie,
ut intereat vir de monte Esau.
10 Propter interfectionem,
et propter iniquitatem in fratrem tuum Jacob,
operiet te confusio, et peribis in ternum.
11 In die cum stares adversus eum,
quando capiebant alieni exercitum ejus,
et extranei ingrediebantur portas ejus,
et super Jerusalem mittebant sortem,
tu quoque eras quasi unus ex eis.
12 Et non despicies in die fratris tui,
in die peregrinationis ejus:
et non ltaberis super filios Juda
in die perditionis eorum:
et non magnificabis os tuum
in die angusti.
13 Neque ingredieris portam populi mei
in die ruin eorum;
neque despicies et tu in malis ejus
in die vastitatis illius.
Et non emitteris adversus exercitum ejus
in die vastitatis illius,
14 neque stabis in exitibus
ut interficias eos qui fugerint,
et non concludes reliquos ejus
in die tribulationis.
15 Quoniam juxta est dies Domini super omnes gentes:
sicut fecisti, fiet tibi;
retributionem tuam convertet in caput tuum.
16 Quomodo enim bibistis super montem sanctum meum,
bibent omnes gentes jugiter:
et bibent, et absorbebunt,
et erunt quasi non sint.
17 Et in monte Sion erit salvatio, et erit sanctus;
et possidebit domus Jacob eos qui se possederant.
18 Et erit domus Jacob ignis,
et domus Joseph flamma,
et domus Esau stipula:
et succendentur in eis, et devorabunt eos,
et non erunt reliqui domus Esau,
quia Dominus locutus est.
19 Et hreditabunt hi, qui ad austrum sunt, montem Esau,
et qui in campestribus, Philisthiim:
et possidebunt regionem Ephraim et regionem Samari,
et Benjamin possidebit Galaad.
20 Et transmigratio exercitus hujus filiorum Isral,
omnia loca Chananorum usque ad Sareptam:
et transmigratio Jerusalem, qu in Bosphoro est,
possidebit civitates austri.
21 Et ascendent salvatores in montem Sion judicare montem Esau,
et erit Domino regnum.]

2 ἰδοὺ ὀλιγοστὸν δέδωκά σε ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἠτιμωμένος σὺ εἶ σφόδρα
3 ὑπερηφανία τῆς καρδίας σου ἐπῆρέν σε κατασκηνοῦντα ἐν ταῖς ὀπαῖς τῶν πετρῶν ὑψῶν κατοικίαν αὐτοῦ λέγων ἐν καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ τίς με κατάξει ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν

9 καὶ πτοηθήσονται οἱ μαχηταί σου οἱ ἐκ Θαιμαν ὅπως ἐξαρθῇ ἄνθρωπος ἐξ ὄρους Ησαυ
10 διὰ τὴν σφαγὴν καὶ τὴν ἀσέβειαν τὴν εἰς τὸν ἀδελφόν σου Ιακωβ καὶ καλύψει σε αἰσχύνη καὶ ἐξαρθήσῃ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα
11 ἀφ᾽ ἧς ἡμέρας ἀντέστης ἐξ ἐναντίας ἐν ἡμέρᾳ αἰχμαλωτευόντων ἀλλογενῶν δύναμιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀλλότριοι εἰσῆλθον εἰς πύλας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ ἔβαλον κλήρους καὶ σὺ ἦς ὡς εἷς ἐξ αὐτῶν

13 μηδὲ εἰσέλθῃς εἰς πύλας λαῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πόνων αὐτῶν μηδὲ ἐπίδῃς καὶ σὺ τὴν συναγωγὴν αὐτῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ὀλέθρου αὐτῶν μηδὲ συνεπιθῇ ἐπὶ τὴν δύναμιν αὐτῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ἀπωλείας αὐτῶν
14 μηδὲ ἐπιστῇς ἐπὶ τὰς διεκβολὰς αὐτῶν τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι τοὺς ἀνασῳζομένους αὐτῶν μηδὲ συγκλείσῃς τοὺς φεύγοντας ἐξ αὐτῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεως
15 διότι ἐγγὺς ἡμέρα κυρίου ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ὃν τρόπον ἐποίησας οὕτως ἔσται σοι τὸ ἀνταπόδομά σου ἀνταποδοθήσεται εἰς κεφαλήν σου
16 διότι ὃν τρόπον ἔπιες ἐπὶ τὸ ὄρος τὸ ἅγιόν μου πίονται πάντα τὰ ἔθνη οἶνον πίονται καὶ καταβήσονται καὶ ἔσονται καθὼς οὐχ ὑπάρχοντες
17 ἐν δὲ τῷ ὄρει Σιων ἔσται ἡ σωτηρία καὶ ἔσται ἅγιον καὶ κατακληρονομήσουσιν ὁ οἶκος Ιακωβ τοὺς κατακληρονομήσαντας αὐτούς
18 καὶ ἔσται ὁ οἶκος Ιακωβ πῦρ ὁ δὲ οἶκος Ιωσηφ φλόξ ὁ δὲ οἶκος Ησαυ εἰς καλάμην καὶ ἐκκαυθήσονται εἰς αὐτοὺς καὶ καταφάγονται αὐτούς καὶ οὐκ ἔσται πυροφόρος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Ησαυ διότι κύριος ἐλάλησεν
19 καὶ κατακληρονομήσουσιν οἱ ἐν Ναγεβ τὸ ὄρος τὸ Ησαυ καὶ οἱ ἐν τῇ Σεφηλα τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους καὶ κατακληρονομήσουσιν τὸ ὄρος Εφραιμ καὶ τὸ πεδίον Σαμαρείας καὶ Βενιαμιν καὶ τὴν Γαλααδῖτιν
20 καὶ τῆς μετοικεσίας ἡ ἀρχὴ αὕτη τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ γῆ τῶν Χαναναίων ἕως Σαρεπτων καὶ ἡ μετοικεσία Ιερουσαλημ ἕως Εφραθα καὶ κληρονομήσουσιν τὰς πόλεις τοῦ Ναγεβ
21 καὶ ἀναβήσονται ἄνδρες σεσῳσμένοι ἐξ ὄρους Σιων τοῦ ἐκδικῆσαι τὸ ὄρος Ησαυ καὶ ἔσται τῷ κυρίῳ ἡ βασιλεία

2 הִנֵּ֥ה קָטֹ֛ן נְתַתִּ֖יךָ בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם בָּז֥וּי אַתָּ֖ה מְאֹֽד׃
3 זְד֤וֹן לִבְּךָ֙ הִשִּׁיאֶ֔ךָ שֹׁכְנִ֥י בְחַגְוֵי־סֶּ֖לַע מְר֣וֹם שִׁבְתּ֑וֹ אֹמֵ֣ר בְּלִבּ֔וֹ מִ֥י יוֹרִדֵ֖נִי אָֽרֶץ׃
4 אִם־תַּגְבִּ֣יהַּ כַּנֶּ֔שֶׁר וְאִם־בֵּ֥ין כּֽוֹכָבִ֖ים שִׂ֣ים קִנֶּ֑ךָ מִשָּׁ֥ם אוֹרִֽידְךָ֖ נְאֻם־יְהוָֽה׃
5 אִם־גַּנָּבִ֤ים בָּאֽוּ־לְךָ֙ אִם־שׁ֣וֹדְדֵי לַ֔יְלָה אֵ֣יךְ נִדְמֵ֔יתָה הֲל֥וֹא יִגְנְב֖וּ דַּיָּ֑ם אִם־בֹּֽצְרִים֙ בָּ֣אוּ לָ֔ךְ הֲל֖וֹא יַשְׁאִ֥ירוּ עֹלֵלֽוֹת׃
6 אֵ֚יךְ נֶחְפְּשׂ֣וּ עֵשָׂ֔ו נִבְע֖וּ מַצְפֻּנָֽיו׃
7 עַֽד־הַגְּב֣וּל שִׁלְּח֗וּךָ כֹּ֚ל אַנְשֵׁ֣י בְרִיתֶ֔ךָ הִשִּׁיא֛וּךָ יָכְל֥וּ לְךָ֖ אַנְשֵׁ֣י שְׁלֹמֶ֑ךָ לַחְמְךָ֗ יָשִׂ֤ימוּ מָזוֹר֙ תַּחְתֶּ֔יךָ אֵ֥ין תְּבוּנָ֖ה בּֽוֹ׃
8 הֲל֛וֹא בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא נְאֻם1 יְהוָ֑ה וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֤י חֲכָמִים֙ מֵֽאֱד֔וֹם וּתְבוּנָ֖ה מֵהַ֥ר עֵשָֽׂו׃
9 וְחַתּ֥וּ גִבּוֹרֶ֖יךָ תֵּימָ֑ן לְמַ֧עַן יִכָּֽרֶת־אִ֛ישׁ מֵהַ֥ר עֵשָׂ֖ו מִקָּֽטֶל׃
10 מֵחֲמַ֛ס אָחִ֥יךָ יַעֲקֹ֖ב תְּכַסְּךָ֣ בוּשָׁ֑ה וְנִכְרַ֖תָּ לְעוֹלָֽם׃
11 בְּיוֹם֙ עֲמָֽדְךָ֣ מִנֶּ֔גֶד בְּי֛וֹם שְׁב֥וֹת זָרִ֖ים חֵיל֑וֹ וְנָכְרִ֞ים בָּ֣אוּ שערו שְׁעָרָ֗יו וְעַל־יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ יַדּ֣וּ גוֹרָ֔ל גַּם־אַתָּ֖ה כְּאַחַ֥ד מֵהֶֽם׃
12 וְאַל־תֵּ֤רֶא בְיוֹם־אָחִ֙יךָ֙ בְּי֣וֹם נָכְר֔וֹ וְאַל־תִּשְׂמַ֥ח לִבְנֵֽי־יְהוּדָ֖ה בְּי֣וֹם אָבְדָ֑ם וְאַל־תַּגְדֵּ֥ל פִּ֖יךָ בְּי֥וֹם צָרָֽה׃
13 אַל־תָּב֤וֹא בְשַֽׁעַר־עַמִּי֙ בְּי֣וֹם אֵידָ֔ם אַל־תֵּ֧רֶא גַם־אַתָּ֛ה בְּרָעָת֖וֹ בְּי֣וֹם אֵיד֑וֹ וְאַל־תִּשְׁלַ֥חְנָה בְחֵיל֖וֹ בְּי֥וֹם אֵידֽוֹ׃
14 וְאַֽל־תַּעֲמֹד֙ עַל־הַפֶּ֔רֶק לְהַכְרִ֖ית אֶת־פְּלִיטָ֑יו וְאַל־תַּסְגֵּ֥ר שְׂרִידָ֖יו בְּי֥וֹם צָרָֽה׃
15 כִּֽי־קָר֥וֹב יוֹם־יְהוָ֖ה עַל־כָּל־הַגּוֹיִ֑ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשִׂ֙יתָ֙ יֵעָ֣שֶׂה לָּ֔ךְ גְּמֻלְךָ֖ יָשׁ֥וּב בְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃
16 כִּ֗י כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֤ר שְׁתִיתֶם֙ עַל־הַ֣ר קָדְשִׁ֔י יִשְׁתּ֥וּ כָֽל־הַגּוֹיִ֖ם תָּמִ֑יד וְשָׁת֣וּ וְלָע֔וּ וְהָי֖וּ כְּל֥וֹא הָיֽוּ׃
17 וּבְהַ֥ר צִיּ֛וֹן תִּהְיֶ֥ה פְלֵיטָ֖ה וְהָ֣יָה קֹ֑דֶשׁ וְיָֽרְשׁוּ֙1 בֵּ֣ית יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב אֵ֖ת מוֹרָֽשֵׁיהֶם׃1
18 וְהָיָה֩ בֵית־יַעֲקֹ֨ב אֵ֜שׁ וּבֵ֧ית יוֹסֵ֣ף לֶהָבָ֗ה וּבֵ֤ית עֵשָׂו֙ לְקַ֔שׁ וְדָלְק֥וּ בָהֶ֖ם וַאֲכָל֑וּם וְלֹֽא־יִֽהְיֶ֤ה3 שָׂרִיד֙ לְבֵ֣ית עֵשָׂ֔ו כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃
19 וְיָרְשׁ֨וּ הַנֶּ֜גֶב אֶת־הַ֣ר עֵשָׂ֗ו וְהַשְּׁפֵלָה֙ אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וְיָרְשׁוּ֙ אֶת־שְׂדֵ֣ה אֶפְרַ֔יִם וְאֵ֖ת שְׂדֵ֣ה שֹׁמְר֑וֹן וּבִנְיָמִ֖ן אֶת־הַגִּלְעָֽד׃
20 וְגָלֻ֣ת הַֽחֵל־הַ֠זֶּה לִבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל אֲשֶֽׁר־כְּנַעֲנִים֙ עַד־צָ֣רְפַ֔ת וְגָלֻ֥ת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּסְפָרַ֑ד יִֽרְשׁ֕וּ אֵ֖ת עָרֵ֥י הַנֶּֽגֶב׃
21 וְעָל֤וּ מֽוֹשִׁעִים֙ בְּהַ֣ר צִיּ֔וֹן לִשְׁפֹּ֖ט אֶת־הַ֣ר עֵשָׂ֑ו וְהָיְתָ֥ה לַֽיהוָ֖ה הַמְּלוּכָֽה׃

habitantem in scissuris petrarum,
exaltantem solium tuum;

Quis detrahet me in terram?
4 Si exaltatus fueris ut aquila,
et si inter sidera posueris nidum tuum,
inde detraham te, dicit Dominus.
5 Si fures introissent ad te,
si latrones per noctem,
quomodo conticuisses?
nonne furati essent sufficientia sibi?
Si vindemiatores introissent ad te,
numquid saltem racemum reliquissent tibi?
6 Quomodo scrutati sunt Esau;
investigaverunt abscondita ejus?
7 Usque ad terminum emiserunt te:
omnes viri fderis tui illuserunt tibi:
invaluerunt adversum te viri pacis tu,
qui comedunt tecum, ponent insidias subter te;
non est prudentia in eo.
8 Numquid non in die illa, dicit Dominus,
perdam sapientes de Iduma,
et prudentiam de monte Esau?
9 Et timebunt fortes tui a meridie,
ut intereat vir de monte Esau.
10 Propter interfectionem,
et propter iniquitatem in fratrem tuum Jacob,
operiet te confusio, et peribis in ternum.
11 In die cum stares adversus eum,
quando capiebant alieni exercitum ejus,
et extranei ingrediebantur portas ejus,
et super Jerusalem mittebant sortem,
tu quoque eras quasi unus ex eis.
12 Et non despicies in die fratris tui,
in die peregrinationis ejus:
et non ltaberis super filios Juda
in die perditionis eorum:
et non magnificabis os tuum
in die angusti.
13 Neque ingredieris portam populi mei
in die ruin eorum;
neque despicies et tu in malis ejus
in die vastitatis illius.
Et non emitteris adversus exercitum ejus
in die vastitatis illius,
14 neque stabis in exitibus
ut interficias eos qui fugerint,
et non concludes reliquos ejus
in die tribulationis.
15 Quoniam juxta est dies Domini super omnes gentes:
sicut fecisti, fiet tibi;
retributionem tuam convertet in caput tuum.
16 Quomodo enim bibistis super montem sanctum meum,
bibent omnes gentes jugiter:
et bibent, et absorbebunt,
et erunt quasi non sint.
17 Et in monte Sion erit salvatio, et erit sanctus;
et possidebit domus Jacob eos qui se possederant.
18 Et erit domus Jacob ignis,
et domus Joseph flamma,
et domus Esau stipula:
et succendentur in eis, et devorabunt eos,
et non erunt reliqui domus Esau,
quia Dominus locutus est.
19 Et hreditabunt hi, qui ad austrum sunt, montem Esau,
et qui in campestribus, Philisthiim:
et possidebunt regionem Ephraim et regionem Samari,
et Benjamin possidebit Galaad.
20 Et transmigratio exercitus hujus filiorum Isral,
omnia loca Chananorum usque ad Sareptam:
et transmigratio Jerusalem, qu in Bosphoro est,
possidebit civitates austri.
21 Et ascendent salvatores in montem Sion judicare montem Esau,
et erit Domino regnum.]
