4 For3588 Gaza5804 shall be1961 forsaken,5800 and Ashkelon831 a desolation:8077 they shall drive out1644 Ashdod795 at the noon day,6672 and Ekron6138 shall be rooted up.6131
5 Woe1945 unto the inhabitants3427 of the sea3220 coast,2256 the nation1471 of the Cherethites!3774 the word1697 of the LORD3068 is against5921 you; O Canaan,3667 the land776 of the Philistines,6430 I will even destroy6 thee, that there shall be no4480 369 inhabitant.3427
6 And the sea3220 coast2256 shall be1961 dwellings5116 and cottages3741 for shepherds,7462 and folds1448 for flocks.6629
7 And the coast2256 shall be1961 for the remnant7611 of the house1004 of Judah;3063 they shall feed7462 thereupon:5921 in the houses1004 of Ashkelon831 shall they lie down7257 in the evening:6153 for3588 the LORD3068 their God430 shall visit6485 them, and turn away7725 their captivity.7622

9 Therefore3651 as I589 live,2416 saith5002 the LORD3068 of hosts,6635 the God430 of Israel,3478 Surely3588 Moab4124 shall be1961 as Sodom,5467 and the children1121 of Ammon5983 as Gomorrah,6017 even the breeding4476 of nettles,2738 and saltpits,4417 4379 and a perpetual5704 5769 desolation:8077 the residue7611 of my people5971 shall spoil962 them, and the remnant3499 of my people1471 shall possess5157 them.

2 πρὸ τοῦ γενέσθαι ὑμᾶς ὡς ἄνθος παραπορευόμενον πρὸ τοῦ ἐπελθεῖν ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς ὀργὴν κυρίου πρὸ τοῦ ἐπελθεῖν ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς ἡμέραν θυμοῦ κυρίου
3 ζητήσατε τὸν κύριον πάντες ταπεινοὶ γῆς κρίμα ἐργάζεσθε καὶ δικαιοσύνην ζητήσατε καὶ ἀποκρίνεσθε αὐτά ὅπως σκεπασθῆτε ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ὀργῆς κυρίου
4 διότι Γάζα διηρπασμένη ἔσται καὶ Ἀσκαλὼν ἔσται εἰς ἀφανισμόν καὶ Ἄζωτος μεσημβρίας ἐκριφήσεται καὶ Ακκαρων ἐκριζωθήσεται
5 οὐαὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὸ σχοίνισμα τῆς θαλάσσης πάροικοι Κρητῶν λόγος κυρίου ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς Χανααν γῆ ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἀπολῶ ὑμᾶς ἐκ κατοικίας
6 καὶ ἔσται Κρήτη νομὴ ποιμνίων καὶ μάνδρα προβάτων
7 καὶ ἔσται τὸ σχοίνισμα τῆς θαλάσσης τοῖς καταλοίποις οἴκου Ιουδα ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς νεμήσονται ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις Ἀσκαλῶνος δείλης καταλύσουσιν ἀπὸ προσώπου υἱῶν Ιουδα ὅτι ἐπέσκεπται αὐτοὺς κύριος ὁ θεὸς αὐτῶν καὶ ἀπέστρεψε τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν αὐτῶν
8 ἤκουσα ὀνειδισμοὺς Μωαβ καὶ κονδυλισμοὺς υἱῶν Αμμων ἐν οἷς ὠνείδιζον τὸν λαόν μου καὶ ἐμεγαλύνοντο ἐπὶ τὰ ὅριά μου
9 διὰ τοῦτο ζῶ ἐγώ λέγει κύριος τῶν δυνάμεων ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ διότι Μωαβ ὡς Σοδομα ἔσται καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Αμμων ὡς Γομορρα καὶ Δαμασκὸς ἐκλελειμμένη ὡς θιμωνιὰ ἅλωνος καὶ ἠφανισμένη εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ οἱ κατάλοιποι λαοῦ μου διαρπῶνται αὐτούς καὶ οἱ κατάλοιποι ἔθνους μου κληρονομήσουσιν αὐτούς
10 αὕτη αὐτοῖς ἀντὶ τῆς ὕβρεως αὐτῶν διότι ὠνείδισαν καὶ ἐμεγαλύνθησαν ἐπὶ τὸν κύριον τὸν παντοκράτορα
11 ἐπιφανήσεται κύριος ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσει πάντας τοὺς θεοὺς τῶν ἐθνῶν τῆς γῆς καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν αὐτῷ ἕκαστος ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτοῦ πᾶσαι αἱ νῆσοι τῶν ἐθνῶν
12 καὶ ὑμεῖς Αἰθίοπες τραυματίαι ῥομφαίας μού ἐστε
13 καὶ ἐκτενεῖ τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ βορρᾶν καὶ ἀπολεῖ τὸν Ἀσσύριον καὶ θήσει τὴν Νινευη εἰς ἀφανισμὸν ἄνυδρον ὡς ἔρημον
14 καὶ νεμήσονται ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ποίμνια καὶ πάντα τὰ θηρία τῆς γῆς καὶ χαμαιλέοντες καὶ ἐχῖνοι ἐν τοῖς φατνώμασιν αὐτῆς κοιτασθήσονται καὶ θηρία φωνήσει ἐν τοῖς διορύγμασιν αὐτῆς κόρακες ἐν τοῖς πυλῶσιν αὐτῆς διότι κέδρος τὸ ἀνάστημα αὐτῆς
15 αὕτη ἡ πόλις ἡ φαυλίστρια ἡ κατοικοῦσα ἐπ᾽ ἐλπίδι ἡ λέγουσα ἐν καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν μετ᾽ ἐμὲ ἔτι πῶς ἐγενήθη εἰς ἀφανισμόν νομὴ θηρίων πᾶς ὁ διαπορευόμενος δι᾽ αὐτῆς συριεῖ καὶ κινήσει τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ

4 כִּ֤י עַזָּה֙ עֲזוּבָ֣ה תִֽהְיֶ֔ה וְאַשְׁקְל֖וֹן לִשְׁמָמָ֑ה אַשְׁדּ֗וֹד בַּֽצָּהֳרַ֙יִם֙ יְגָ֣רְשׁ֔וּהָ וְעֶקְר֖וֹן תֵּעָקֵֽר׃ ס

3 Qurite Dominum, omnes mansueti terr,
qui judicium ejus estis operati;
qurite justum, qurite mansuetum,
si quomodo abscondamini in die furoris Domini.
4 Quia Gaza destructa erit,
et Ascalon in desertum:
Azotum in meridie ejicient,
et Accaron eradicabitur.
5 V qui habitatis funiculum maris, gens perditorum!
verbum Domini super vos, Chanaan, terra Philisthinorum;
et disperdam te, ita ut non sit inhabitator.
6 Et erit funiculus maris requies pastorum, et caul pecorum;
7 et erit funiculus ejus qui remanserit de domo Juda: ibi pascentur,
in domibus Ascalonis ad vesperam requiescent,
quia visitabit eos Dominus Deus eorum,
et avertet captivitatem eorum.
8 Audivi opprobrium Moab,
et blasphemias filiorum Ammon,
qu exprobraverunt populo meo,
et magnificati sunt super terminos eorum.
9 Propterea vivo ego, dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Isral,

13 Et extendet manum suam super aquilonem, et perdet Assur,
et ponet speciosam in solitudinem,
et in invium, et quasi desertum.

11 ἐπιφανήσεται κύριος ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσει πάντας τοὺς θεοὺς τῶν ἐθνῶν τῆς γῆς καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν αὐτῷ ἕκαστος ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτοῦ πᾶσαι αἱ νῆσοι τῶν ἐθνῶν
12 καὶ ὑμεῖς Αἰθίοπες τραυματίαι ῥομφαίας μού ἐστε
13 καὶ ἐκτενεῖ τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ βορρᾶν καὶ ἀπολεῖ τὸν Ἀσσύριον καὶ θήσει τὴν Νινευη εἰς ἀφανισμὸν ἄνυδρον ὡς ἔρημον
14 καὶ νεμήσονται ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ποίμνια καὶ πάντα τὰ θηρία τῆς γῆς καὶ χαμαιλέοντες καὶ ἐχῖνοι ἐν τοῖς φατνώμασιν αὐτῆς κοιτασθήσονται καὶ θηρία φωνήσει ἐν τοῖς διορύγμασιν αὐτῆς κόρακες ἐν τοῖς πυλῶσιν αὐτῆς διότι κέδρος τὸ ἀνάστημα αὐτῆς
15 αὕτη ἡ πόλις ἡ φαυλίστρια ἡ κατοικοῦσα ἐπ᾽ ἐλπίδι ἡ λέγουσα ἐν καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς ἐγώ εἰμι καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν μετ᾽ ἐμὲ ἔτι πῶς ἐγενήθη εἰς ἀφανισμόν νομὴ θηρίων πᾶς ὁ διαπορευόμενος δι᾽ αὐτῆς συριεῖ καὶ κινήσει τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ

1 הִֽתְקוֹשְׁשׁ֖וּ וָק֑וֹשּׁוּ הַגּ֖וֹי לֹ֥א נִכְסָֽף׃
2 בְּטֶ֙רֶם֙ לֶ֣דֶת חֹ֔ק כְּמֹ֖ץ עָ֣בַר י֑וֹם בְּטֶ֣רֶם׀ לֹא־יָב֣וֹא עֲלֵיכֶ֗ם חֲרוֹן֙ אַף־יְהוָ֔ה בְּטֶ֙רֶם֙ לֹא־יָב֣וֹא עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם י֖וֹם אַף־יְהוָֽה׃
3 בַּקְּשׁ֤וּ אֶת־יְהוָה֙ כָּל־עַנְוֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר מִשְׁפָּט֖וֹ פָּעָ֑לוּ בַּקְּשׁוּ־צֶ֙דֶק֙ בַּקְּשׁ֣וּ עֲנָוָ֔ה אוּלַי֙ תִּסָּ֣תְר֔וּ בְּי֖וֹם אַף־יְהוָֽה׃
4 כִּ֤י עַזָּה֙ עֲזוּבָ֣ה תִֽהְיֶ֔ה וְאַשְׁקְל֖וֹן לִשְׁמָמָ֑ה אַשְׁדּ֗וֹד בַּֽצָּהֳרַ֙יִם֙ יְגָ֣רְשׁ֔וּהָ וְעֶקְר֖וֹן תֵּעָקֵֽר׃ ס
5 ה֗וֹי יֹֽשְׁבֵ֛י חֶ֥בֶל הַיָּ֖ם גּ֣וֹי כְּרֵתִ֑ים דְּבַר־יְהוָ֣ה עֲלֵיכֶ֗ם כְּנַ֙עַן֙ אֶ֣רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֖יךְ מֵאֵ֥ין יוֹשֵֽׁב׃
6 וְֽהָיְתָ֞ה חֶ֣בֶל הַיָּ֗ם נְוֹ֛ת כְּרֹ֥ת רֹעִ֖ים וְגִדְר֥וֹת צֹֽאן׃
7 וְהָ֣יָה חֶ֗בֶל לִשְׁאֵרִ֛ית בֵּ֥ית יְהוּדָ֖ה עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם יִרְע֑וּן בְּבָתֵּ֣י אַשְׁקְל֗וֹן בָּעֶ֙רֶב֙ יִרְבָּצ֔וּן כִּ֧י יִפְקְדֵ֛ם יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֖ם וְשָׁ֥ב שבותם שְׁבִיתָֽם׃
8 שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ חֶרְפַּ֣ת מוֹאָ֔ב וְגִדּוּפֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֑וֹן אֲשֶׁ֤ר חֵֽרְפוּ֙ אֶת־עַמִּ֔י וַיַּגְדִּ֖ילוּ עַל־גְּבוּלָֽם׃
9 לָכֵ֣ן חַי־אָ֡נִי נְאֻם֩ יְהוָ֨ה צְבָא֜וֹת אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל כִּֽי־מוֹאָ֞ב כִּסְדֹ֤ם תִּֽהְיֶה֙ וּבְנֵ֤י עַמּוֹן֙ כַּֽעֲמֹרָ֔ה מִמְשַׁ֥ק חָר֛וּל וּמִכְרֵה־מֶ֥לַח וּשְׁמָמָ֖ה עַד־עוֹלָ֑ם שְׁאֵרִ֤ית עַמִּי֙ יְבָזּ֔וּם וְיֶ֥תֶר גוי גּוֹיִ֖י יִנְחָלֽוּם׃
10 זֹ֥את לָהֶ֖ם תַּ֣חַת גְּאוֹנָ֑ם כִּ֤י חֵֽרְפוּ֙ וַיַּגְדִּ֔לוּ עַל־עַ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃
11 נוֹרָ֤א יְהוָה֙ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם כִּ֣י רָזָ֔ה אֵ֖ת כָּל־אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ וְיִשְׁתַּֽחֲווּ־לוֹ֙ אִ֣ישׁ מִמְּקוֹמ֔וֹ כֹּ֖ל אִיֵּ֥י הַגּוֹיִֽם׃
12 גַּם־אַתֶּ֣ם כּוּשִׁ֔ים חַֽלְלֵ֥י חַרְבִּ֖י הֵֽמָּה׃
13 וְיֵ֤ט יָדוֹ֙ עַל־צָפ֔וֹן וִֽיאַבֵּ֖ד אֶת־אַשּׁ֑וּר וְיָשֵׂ֤ם אֶת־נִֽינְוֵה֙ לִשְׁמָמָ֔ה צִיָּ֖ה כַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
14 וְרָבְצ֨וּ בְתוֹכָ֤הּ עֲדָרִים֙ כָּל־חַיְתוֹ־ג֔וֹי גַּם־קָאַת֙ גַּם־קִפֹּ֔ד בְּכַפְתֹּרֶ֖יהָ יָלִ֑ינוּ ק֠וֹל יְשׁוֹרֵ֤ר בַּֽחַלּוֹן֙ חֹ֣רֶב בַּסַּ֔ף כִּ֥י אַרְזָ֖ה עֵרָֽה׃
15 זֹ֞א֠ת3 הָעִ֤יר הָעַלִּיזָה֙ הַיּוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת לָבֶ֔טַח הָאֹֽמְרָה֙ בִּלְבָבָ֔הּ אֲנִ֖י וְאַפְסִ֣י ע֑וֹד אֵ֣יךְ׀ הָיְתָ֣ה לְשַׁמָּ֗ה מַרְבֵּץ֙ לַֽחַיָּ֔ה כֹּ֚ל עוֹבֵ֣ר עָלֶ֔יהָ יִשְׁרֹ֖ק יָנִ֥יעַ יָדֽוֹ׃ ס

1 [Convenite, congregamini, gens non amabilis,
2 priusquam pariat jussio quasi pulverem transeuntem diem,
antequam veniat super vos ira furoris Domini,
antequam veniat super vos dies indignationis Domini.
3 Qurite Dominum, omnes mansueti terr,
qui judicium ejus estis operati;
qurite justum, qurite mansuetum,
si quomodo abscondamini in die furoris Domini.
4 Quia Gaza destructa erit,
et Ascalon in desertum:
Azotum in meridie ejicient,
et Accaron eradicabitur.
5 V qui habitatis funiculum maris, gens perditorum!
verbum Domini super vos, Chanaan, terra Philisthinorum;
et disperdam te, ita ut non sit inhabitator.
6 Et erit funiculus maris requies pastorum, et caul pecorum;
7 et erit funiculus ejus qui remanserit de domo Juda: ibi pascentur,
in domibus Ascalonis ad vesperam requiescent,
quia visitabit eos Dominus Deus eorum,
et avertet captivitatem eorum.
8 Audivi opprobrium Moab,
et blasphemias filiorum Ammon,
qu exprobraverunt populo meo,
et magnificati sunt super terminos eorum.
9 Propterea vivo ego, dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Isral,
quia Moab ut Sodoma erit,
et filii Ammon quasi Gomorrha:
siccitas spinarum, et acervi salis,
et desertum usque in ternum:
reliqui populi mei diripient eos,
et residui gentis me possidebunt illos.
10 Hoc eis eveniet pro superbia sua,
quia blasphemaverunt et magnificati sunt
super populum Domini exercituum.
11 Horribilis Dominus super eos,
et attenuabit omnes deos terr:
et adorabunt eum viri de loco suo,
omnes insul gentium.
12 Sed et vos, thiopes, interfecti gladio meo eritis.
13 Et extendet manum suam super aquilonem, et perdet Assur,
et ponet speciosam in solitudinem,
et in invium, et quasi desertum.
14 Et accubabunt in medio ejus greges, omnes besti gentium;
et onocrotalus et ericius in liminibus ejus morabuntur:
vox cantantis in fenestra,
corvus in superliminari,
quoniam attenuabo robur ejus.
15 Hc est civitas gloriosa habitans in confidentia,
qu dicebat in corde suo:
Ego sum, et extra me non est alia amplius:
quomodo facta est in desertum cubile besti?
omnis qui transit per eam sibilabit,
et movebit manum suam.]
