48. Tho' See You Drenchd Wet That Part Of Me

48

Priapus

Quod partem madidam mei videtis,

per quam significor Priapus esse,

non ros est, mihi crede, nec pruina,

sed quod sponte sua solet remitti,

cum mens est pathicae memor puellae.

Tho' see you drenchd wet that part of me

Whereby Priapus I am signified;

Nor dew (believe me!) 'twas nor hoary frost,

But whatso gusheth of its own accord

When I bethink me of a pathic god.

Altho
' you see that part of me to be wet by which I'm signified to be Priapus, 'tis not dew, believe me, nor hoarfrost, but what is wont to gush forth spontaneously when my mind recalls a pathic girl [catamite].
