2 And Joseph3130 commanded6680 853 his servants5650 853 the physicians7495 to embalm2590 853 his father:1 and the physicians7495 embalmed2590 853 Israel.3478
3 And forty705 days3117 were fulfilled4390 for him; for3588 so3651 are fulfilled4390 the days3117 of those which are embalmed:2590 and the Egyptians4714 mourned1058 for him threescore and ten7657 days.3117
4 And when the days3117 of his mourning1068 were past,5674 Joseph3130 spoke1696 unto413 the house1004 of Pharaoh,6547 saying,559 If518 now4994 I have found4672 grace2580 in your eyes,5869 speak,1696 I pray you,4994 in the ears241 of Pharaoh,6547 saying,559
5 My father1 made me swear,7650 saying,559 Lo,2009 I595 die:4191 in my grave6913 which834 I have digged3738 for me in the land776 of Canaan,3667 there8033 shalt thou bury6912 me. Now6258 therefore let me go up,5927 I pray thee,4994 and bury6912 853 my father,1 and I will come again.7725
6 And Pharaoh6547 said,559 Go up,5927 and bury6912 853 thy father,1 according as834 he made thee swear.7650
7 And Joseph3130 went up5927 to bury6912 853 his father:1 and with854 him went up5927 all3605 the servants5650 of Pharaoh,6547 the elders2205 of his house,1004 and all3605 the elders2205 of the land776 of Egypt,4714
8 And all3605 the house1004 of Joseph,3130 and his brethren,251 and his father's1 house:1004 only7535 their little ones,2945 and their flocks,6629 and their herds,1241 they left5800 in the land776 of Goshen.1657
9 And there went up5927 with5973 him both1571 chariots7393 and1571 horsemen:6571 and it was1961 a very3966 great3515 company.4264
10 And they came935 to5704 the threshingfloor1637 of Atad,329 which834 is beyond5676 Jordan,3383 and there8033 they mourned5594 with a great1419 and very3966 sore3515 lamentation:4553 and he made6213 a mourning60 for his father1 seven7651 days.3117
11 And when the inhabitants3427 of the land,776 the Canaanites,3669 saw7200 853 the mourning60 in the floor1637 of Atad,329 they said,559 This2088 is a grievous3515 mourning60 to the Egyptians:4714 wherefore5921 3651 the name8034 of it was called7121 Abel-mizraim,67 which834 is beyond5676 Jordan.3383
12 And his sons1121 did6213 unto him according as3651 834 he commanded6680 them:
13 For his sons1121 carried5375 him into the land776 of Canaan,3667 and buried6912 him in the cave4631 of the field7704 of Machpelah,4375 which834 Abraham85 bought7069 with854 the field7704 for a possession272 of a burial place6913 of4480 854 Ephron6085 the Hittite,2850 before5921 6440 Mamre.4471
14 And Joseph3130 returned7725 into Egypt,4714 he,1931 and his brethren,251 and all3605 that went up5927 with854 him to bury6912 853 his father,1 after310 he had buried6912 853 his father.1
15 And when Joseph's3130 brethren251 saw7200 that3588 their father1 was dead,4191 they said,559 Joseph3130 will peradventure3863 hate7852 us, and will certainly requite7725 7725 us 853 all3605 the evil7451 which834 we did1580 unto him.
16 And they sent a messenger6680 unto413 Joseph,3130 saying,559 Thy father1 did command6680 before6440 he died,4194 saying,559
17 So3541 shall ye say559 unto Joseph,3130 Forgive,5375 I pray thee577 now,4994 the trespass6588 of thy brethren,251 and their sin;2403 for3588 they did1580 unto thee evil:7451 and now,6258 we pray thee,4994 forgive5375 the trespass6588 of the servants5650 of the God430 of thy father.1 And Joseph3130 wept1058 when they spoke1696 unto413 him.
18 And his brethren251 also1571 went1980 and fell down5307 before his face;6440 and they said,559 Behold,2009 we be thy servants.5650
19 And Joseph3130 said559 unto413 them, Fear3372 not:408 for3588 am I589 in the place8478 of God?430
20 But as for you,859 ye thought2803 evil7451 against5921 me; but God430 meant2803 it unto good,2896 to4616 bring to pass,6213 as it is this2088 day,3117 to save much people alive.2421 5971 7227
21 Now6258 therefore fear3372 ye not:408 I595 will nourish3557 you, and your little ones.2945 And he comforted5162 them, and spoke1696 kindly5921 3820 unto them.
22 And Joseph3130 dwelt3427 in Egypt,4714 he,1931 and his father's1 house:1004 and Joseph3130 lived2421 a hundred3967 and ten6235 years.8141
23 And Joseph3130 saw7200 Ephraim's669 children1121 of the third8029 generation: the children1121 also1571 of Machir4353 the son1121 of Manasseh4519 were brought up3205 upon5921 Joseph's3130 knees.1290
24 And Joseph3130 said559 unto413 his brethren,251 I595 die:4191 and God430 will surely visit6485 6485 you, and bring5927 you out of4480 this2063 land776 unto413 the land776 which834 he swore7650 to Abraham,85 to Isaac,3327 and to Jacob.3290
25 And Joseph3130 took an oath7650 of 853 the children1121 of Israel,3478 saying,559 God430 will surely visit6485 6485 you, and ye shall carry up5927 853 my bones6106 from hence.4480 2088
26 So Joseph3130 died,4191 being a hundred3967 and ten6235 years8141 old:1121 and they embalmed2590 him, and he was put3455 in a coffin727 in Egypt.4714

1 καὶ ἐπιπεσὼν Ιωσηφ ἐπὶ τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἔκλαυσεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐφίλησεν αὐτόν
2 καὶ προσέταξεν Ιωσηφ τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ τοῖς ἐνταφιασταῖς ἐνταφιάσαι τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνεταφίασαν οἱ ἐνταφιασταὶ τὸν Ισραηλ
3 καὶ ἐπλήρωσαν αὐτοῦ τεσσαράκοντα ἡμέρας οὕτως γὰρ καταριθμοῦνται αἱ ἡμέραι τῆς ταφῆς καὶ ἐπένθησεν αὐτὸν Αἴγυπτος ἑβδομήκοντα ἡμέρας
4 ἐπειδὴ δὲ παρῆλθον αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ πένθους ἐλάλησεν Ιωσηφ πρὸς τοὺς δυνάστας Φαραω λέγων εἰ εὗρον χάριν ἐναντίον ὑμῶν λαλήσατε περὶ ἐμοῦ εἰς τὰ ὦτα Φαραω λέγοντες
5 ὁ πατήρ μου ὥρκισέν με λέγων ἐν τῷ μνημείῳ ᾧ ὤρυξα ἐμαυτῷ ἐν γῇ Χανααν ἐκεῖ με θάψεις νῦν οὖν ἀναβὰς θάψω τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ ἐπανελεύσομαι
6 καὶ εἶπεν Φαραω ἀνάβηθι θάψον τὸν πατέρα σου καθάπερ ὥρκισέν σε
7 καὶ ἀνέβη Ιωσηφ θάψαι τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ συνανέβησαν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ πάντες οἱ παῖδες Φαραω καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τοῦ οἴκου αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τῆς γῆς Αἰγύπτου
8 καὶ πᾶσα ἡ πανοικία Ιωσηφ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσα ἡ οἰκία ἡ πατρικὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν συγγένειαν καὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τοὺς βόας ὑπελίποντο ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ
9 καὶ συνανέβησαν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἅρματα καὶ ἱππεῖς καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ παρεμβολὴ μεγάλη σφόδρα
10 καὶ παρεγένοντο ἐφ᾽ ἅλωνα Αταδ ὅ ἐστιν πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου καὶ ἐκόψαντο αὐτὸν κοπετὸν μέγαν καὶ ἰσχυρὸν σφόδρα καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ πένθος τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας
11 καὶ εἶδον οἱ κάτοικοι τῆς γῆς Χανααν τὸ πένθος ἐν ἅλωνι Αταδ καὶ εἶπαν πένθος μέγα τοῦτό ἐστιν τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις διὰ τοῦτο ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Πένθος Αἰγύπτου ὅ ἐστιν πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου
12 καὶ ἐποίησαν αὐτῷ οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ
13 καὶ ἀνέλαβον αὐτὸν οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς γῆν Χανααν καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ διπλοῦν ὃ ἐκτήσατο Αβρααμ τὸ σπήλαιον ἐν κτήσει μνημείου παρὰ Εφρων τοῦ Χετταίου κατέναντι Μαμβρη
14 καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Ιωσηφ εἰς Αἴγυπτον αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ συναναβάντες θάψαι τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ
15 ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ Ιωσηφ ὅτι τέθνηκεν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῶν εἶπαν μήποτε μνησικακήσῃ ἡμῖν Ιωσηφ καὶ ἀνταπόδομα ἀνταποδῷ ἡμῖν πάντα τὰ κακά ἃ ἐνεδειξάμεθα αὐτῷ
16 καὶ παρεγένοντο πρὸς Ιωσηφ λέγοντες ὁ πατήρ σου ὥρκισεν πρὸ τοῦ τελευτῆσαι αὐτὸν λέγων
17 οὕτως εἴπατε Ιωσηφ ἄφες αὐτοῖς τὴν ἀδικίαν καὶ τὴν ἁμαρτίαν αὐτῶν ὅτι πονηρά σοι ἐνεδείξαντο καὶ νῦν δέξαι τὴν ἀδικίαν τῶν θεραπόντων τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ πατρός σου καὶ ἔκλαυσεν Ιωσηφ λαλούντων αὐτῶν πρὸς αὐτόν
18 καὶ ἐλθόντες πρὸς αὐτὸν εἶπαν οἵδε ἡμεῖς σοι οἰκέται
19 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ μὴ φοβεῖσθε τοῦ γὰρ θεοῦ εἰμι ἐγώ
20 ὑμεῖς ἐβουλεύσασθε κατ᾽ ἐμοῦ εἰς πονηρά ὁ δὲ θεὸς ἐβουλεύσατο περὶ ἐμοῦ εἰς ἀγαθά ὅπως ἂν γενηθῇ ὡς σήμερον ἵνα διατραφῇ λαὸς πολύς
21 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς μὴ φοβεῖσθε ἐγὼ διαθρέψω ὑμᾶς καὶ τὰς οἰκίας ὑμῶν καὶ παρεκάλεσεν αὐτοὺς καὶ ἐλάλησεν αὐτῶν εἰς τὴν καρδίαν
22 καὶ κατῴκησεν Ιωσηφ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ πᾶσα ἡ πανοικία τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔζησεν Ιωσηφ ἔτη ἑκατὸν δέκα
23 καὶ εἶδεν Ιωσηφ Εφραιμ παιδία ἕως τρίτης γενεᾶς καὶ υἱοὶ Μαχιρ τοῦ υἱοῦ Μανασση ἐτέχθησαν ἐπὶ μηρῶν Ιωσηφ
24 καὶ εἶπεν Ιωσηφ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ λέγων ἐγὼ ἀποθνῄσκω ἐπισκοπῇ δὲ ἐπισκέψεται ὑμᾶς ὁ θεὸς καὶ ἀνάξει ὑμᾶς ἐκ τῆς γῆς ταύτης εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ὤμοσεν ὁ θεὸς τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν Αβρααμ καὶ Ισαακ καὶ Ιακωβ
25 καὶ ὥρκισεν Ιωσηφ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ισραηλ λέγων ἐν τῇ ἐπισκοπῇ ᾗ ἐπισκέψεται ὑμᾶς ὁ θεός καὶ συνανοίσετε τὰ ὀστᾶ μου ἐντεῦθεν μεθ᾽ ὑμῶν
26 καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν Ιωσηφ ἐτῶν ἑκατὸν δέκα καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν καὶ ἔθηκαν ἐν τῇ σορῷ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ

1 וַיִּפֹּ֥ל יוֹסֵ֖ף עַל־פְּנֵ֣י אָבִ֑יו וַיֵּ֥בְךְּ עָלָ֖יו וַיִּשַּׁק־לֽוֹ׃
2 וַיְצַ֨ו יוֹסֵ֤ף אֶת־עֲבָדָיו֙ אֶת־הָרֹ֣פְאִ֔ים לַחֲנֹ֖ט אֶת־אָבִ֑יו וַיַּחַנְט֥וּ הָרֹפְאִ֖ים אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
3 וַיִּמְלְאוּ־לוֹ֙ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֔וֹם כִּ֛י כֵּ֥ן יִמְלְא֖וּ יְמֵ֣י הַחֲנֻטִ֑ים וַיִּבְכּ֥וּ אֹת֛וֹ מִצְרַ֖יִם שִׁבְעִ֥ים יֽוֹם׃
4 וַיַּֽעַבְרוּ֙ יְמֵ֣י בְכִית֔וֹ וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר יוֹסֵ֔ף אֶל־בֵּ֥ית פַּרְעֹ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר אִם־נָ֨א מָצָ֤אתִי חֵן֙ בְּעֵ֣ינֵיכֶ֔ם דַּבְּרוּ־נָ֕א בְּאָזְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹ֖ה לֵאמֹֽר׃
5 אָבִ֞י הִשְׁבִּיעַ֣נִי לֵאמֹ֗ר הִנֵּ֣ה אָנֹכִי֮ מֵת֒ בְּקִבְרִ֗י אֲשֶׁ֨ר כָּרִ֤יתִי לִי֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן שָׁ֖מָּה תִּקְבְּרֵ֑נִי וְעַתָּ֗ה אֶֽעֱלֶה־נָּ֛א וְאֶקְבְּרָ֥ה אֶת־אָבִ֖י וְאָשֽׁוּבָה׃
6 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֑ה עֲלֵ֛ה וּקְבֹ֥ר אֶת־אָבִ֖יךָ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הִשְׁבִּיעֶֽךָ׃
7 וַיַּ֥עַל יוֹסֵ֖ף לִקְבֹּ֣ר אֶת־אָבִ֑יו וַיַּֽעֲל֨וּ אִתּ֜וֹ כָּל־עַבְדֵ֤י פַרְעֹה֙ זִקְנֵ֣י בֵית֔וֹ וְכֹ֖ל זִקְנֵ֥י אֶֽרֶץ־מִצְרָֽיִם׃
8 וְכֹל֙ בֵּ֣ית יוֹסֵ֔ף וְאֶחָ֖יו וּבֵ֣ית אָבִ֑יו רַ֗ק טַפָּם֙ וְצֹאנָ֣ם וּבְקָרָ֔ם עָזְב֖וּ בְּאֶ֥רֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן׃
9 וַיַּ֣עַל עִמּ֔וֹ גַּם־רֶ֖כֶב גַּם־פָּרָשִׁ֑ים וַיְהִ֥י הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה כָּבֵ֥ד מְאֹֽד׃
10 וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ עַד־גֹּ֣רֶן הָאָטָ֗ד אֲשֶׁר֙ בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וַיִּ֨סְפְּדוּ־שָׁ֔ם מִסְפֵּ֛ד גָּד֥וֹל וְכָבֵ֖ד מְאֹ֑ד וַיַּ֧עַשׂ לְאָבִ֛יו אֵ֖בֶל שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִֽים׃
11 וַיַּ֡רְא יוֹשֵׁב֩ הָאָ֨רֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֜י אֶת־הָאֵ֗בֶל בְּגֹ֙רֶן֙ הָֽאָטָ֔ד וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ אֵֽבֶל־כָּבֵ֥ד זֶ֖ה לְמִצְרָ֑יִם עַל־כֵּ֞ן קָרָ֤א שְׁמָהּ֙ אָבֵ֣ל מִצְרַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּעֵ֥בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃
12 וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ בָנָ֖יו ל֑וֹ כֵּ֖ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּֽם׃
13 וַיִּשְׂא֨וּ אֹת֤וֹ בָנָיו֙ אַ֣רְצָה כְּנַ֔עַן וַיִּקְבְּר֣וּ אֹת֔וֹ בִּמְעָרַ֖ת שְׂדֵ֣ה הַמַּכְפֵּלָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר קָנָה֩ אַבְרָהָ֨ם אֶת־הַשָּׂדֶ֜ה לַאֲחֻזַּת־קֶ֗בֶר מֵאֵ֛ת עֶפְרֹ֥ן הַחִתִּ֖י עַל־פְּנֵ֥י מַמְרֵֽא׃
14 וַיָּ֨שָׁב יוֹסֵ֤ף מִצְרַ֙יְמָה֙ ה֣וּא וְאֶחָ֔יו וְכָל־הָעֹלִ֥ים אִתּ֖וֹ לִקְבֹּ֣ר אֶת־אָבִ֑יו אַחֲרֵ֖י קָבְר֥וֹ אֶת־אָבִֽיו׃
15 וַיִּרְא֤וּ אֲחֵֽי־יוֹסֵף֙ כִּי־מֵ֣ת אֲבִיהֶ֔ם וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ ל֥וּ יִשְׂטְמֵ֖נוּ יוֹסֵ֑ף וְהָשֵׁ֤ב יָשִׁיב֙ לָ֔נוּ אֵ֚ת כָּל־הָ֣רָעָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר גָּמַ֖לְנוּ אֹתֽוֹ׃
16 וַיְצַוּ֕וּ אֶל־יוֹסֵ֖ף לֵאמֹ֑ר אָבִ֣יךָ צִוָּ֔ה לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹת֖וֹ לֵאמֹֽר׃
17 כֹּֽה־תֹאמְר֣וּ לְיוֹסֵ֗ף אָ֣נָּ֡א שָׂ֣א נָ֠א פֶּ֣שַׁע אַחֶ֤יךָ וְחַטָּאתָם֙ כִּי־רָעָ֣ה גְמָל֔וּךָ וְעַתָּה֙ שָׂ֣א נָ֔א לְפֶ֥שַׁע עַבְדֵ֖י אֱלֹהֵ֣י אָבִ֑יךָ וַיֵּ֥בְךְּ יוֹסֵ֖ף בְּדַבְּרָ֥ם אֵלָֽיו׃
18 וַיֵּלְכוּ֙ גַּם־אֶחָ֔יו וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ לְפָנָ֑יו וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ הִנֶּ֥נּֽוּ לְךָ֖ לַעֲבָדִֽים׃
19 וַיֹּ֧אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֛ם יוֹסֵ֖ף אַל־תִּירָ֑אוּ כִּ֛י הֲתַ֥חַת אֱלֹהִ֖ים אָֽנִי׃
20 וְאַתֶּ֕ם חֲשַׁבְתֶּ֥ם עָלַ֖י רָעָ֑ה אֱלֹהִים֙ חֲשָׁבָ֣הּ לְטֹבָ֔ה לְמַ֗עַן עֲשֹׂ֛ה כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּ֖ה לְהַחֲיֹ֥ת עַם־רָֽב׃
21 וְעַתָּה֙ אַל־תִּירָ֔אוּ אָנֹכִ֛י אֲכַלְכֵּ֥ל אֶתְכֶ֖ם וְאֶֽת־טַפְּכֶ֑ם וַיְנַחֵ֣ם אוֹתָ֔ם וַיְדַבֵּ֖ר עַל־לִבָּֽם׃
22 וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב יוֹסֵף֙ בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם ה֖וּא וּבֵ֣ית אָבִ֑יו וַיְחִ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף מֵאָ֥ה וָעֶ֖שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃
23 וַיַּ֤רְא יוֹסֵף֙ לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם בְּנֵ֖י שִׁלֵּשִׁ֑ים גַּ֗ם בְּנֵ֤י מָכִיר֙ בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה יֻלְּד֖וּ עַל־בִּרְכֵּ֥י יוֹסֵֽף׃
24 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ אֶל־אֶחָ֔יו אָנֹכִ֖י מֵ֑ת וֵֽאלֹהִ֞ים פָּקֹ֧ד יִפְקֹ֣ד אֶתְכֶ֗ם וְהֶעֱלָ֤ה אֶתְכֶם֙ מִן־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֔את אֶל־הָאָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִשְׁבַּ֛ע לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם לְיִצְחָ֖ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃
25 וַיַּשְׁבַּ֣ע יוֹסֵ֔ף אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר פָּקֹ֨ד יִפְקֹ֤ד אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶתְכֶ֔ם וְהַעֲלִתֶ֥ם אֶת־עַצְמֹתַ֖י מִזֶּֽה׃
26 וַיָּ֣מָת יוֹסֵ֔ף בֶּן־מֵאָ֥ה וָעֶ֖שֶׂר שָׁנִ֑ים וַיַּחַנְט֣וּ אֹת֔וֹ וַיִּ֥ישֶׂם בָּאָר֖וֹן בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃

1 Quod cernens Joseph, ruit super faciem patris, flens et deosculans eum.
2 Prcepitque servis suis medicis ut aromatibus condirent patrem.
3 Quibus jussa explentibus, transierunt quadraginta dies: iste quippe mos erat cadaverum conditorum: flevitque eum gyptus septuaginta diebus.
4 Et expleto planctus tempore, locutus est Joseph ad familiam Pharaonis: Si inveni gratiam in conspectu vestro, loquimini in auribus Pharaonis:
5 eo quod pater meus adjuraverit me dicens: En morior: in sepulchro meo, quod fodi mihi in terra Chanaan, sepelies me. Ascendam igitur, et sepeliam patrem meum, ac revertar.
6 Dixitque ei Pharao: Ascende, et sepeli patrem tuum sicut adjuratus es.
7 Quo ascendente, ierunt cum eo omnes senes domus Pharaonis, cunctique majores natu terr gypti:
8 domus Joseph cum fratribus suis, absque parvulis, et gregibus atque armentis, qu dereliquerant in terra Gessen.
9 Habuit quoque in comitatu currus et equites: et facta est turba non modica.
10 Veneruntque ad Aream Atad, qu sita est trans Jordanem: ubi celebrantes exequias planctu magno atque vehementi impleverunt septem dies.
11 Quod cum vidissent habitatores terr Chanaan, dixerunt: Planctus magnus est iste gyptiis. Et idcirco vocatum est nomen loci illius, Planctus gypti.
12 Fecerunt ergo filii Jacob sicut prceperat eis:
13 et portantes eum in terram Chanaan, sepelierunt eum in spelunca duplici, quam emerat Abraham cum agro in possessionem sepulchri ab Ephron Hetho, contra faciem Mambre.
14 Reversusque est Joseph in gyptum cum fratribus suis, et omni comitatu, sepulto patre.
15 Quo mortuo, timentes fratres ejus, et mutuo colloquentes: Ne forte memor sit injuri quam passus est, et reddat nobis omne malum quod fecimus,
16 mandaverunt ei dicentes: Pater tuus prcepit nobis antequam moreretur,
17 ut hc tibi verbis illius diceremus: Obsecro ut obliviscaris sceleris fratrum tuorum, et peccati atque maliti quam exercuerunt in te: nos quoque oramus ut servis Dei patris tui dimittas iniquitatem hanc. Quibus auditis flevit Joseph.

19 Quibus ille respondit: Nolite timere: num Dei possumus resistere voluntati?
20 Vos cogitastis de me malum: sed Deus vertit illud in bonum, ut exaltaret me, sicut in prsentiarum cernitis, et salvos faceret multos populos.
21 Nolite timere: ego pascam vos et parvulos vestros: consolatusque est eos, et blande ac leniter est locutus.
22 Et habitavit in gypto cum omni domo patris sui: vixitque centum decem annis. Et vidit Ephraim filios usque ad tertiam generationem. Filii quoque Machir filii Manasse nati sunt in genibus Joseph.
23 Quibus transactis, locutus est fratribus suis: Post mortem meam Deus visitabit vos, et ascendere vos faciet de terra ista ad terram quam juravit Abraham, Isaac et Jacob.

21 וְעַתָּה֙ אַל־תִּירָ֔אוּ אָנֹכִ֛י אֲכַלְכֵּ֥ל אֶתְכֶ֖ם וְאֶֽת־טַפְּכֶ֑ם וַיְנַחֵ֣ם אוֹתָ֔ם וַיְדַבֵּ֖ר עַל־לִבָּֽם׃
22 וַיֵּ֤שֶׁב יוֹסֵף֙ בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם ה֖וּא וּבֵ֣ית אָבִ֑יו וַיְחִ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף מֵאָ֥ה וָעֶ֖שֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃
23 וַיַּ֤רְא יוֹסֵף֙ לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם בְּנֵ֖י שִׁלֵּשִׁ֑ים גַּ֗ם בְּנֵ֤י מָכִיר֙ בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה יֻלְּד֖וּ עַל־בִּרְכֵּ֥י יוֹסֵֽף׃
24 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ אֶל־אֶחָ֔יו אָנֹכִ֖י מֵ֑ת וֵֽאלֹהִ֞ים פָּקֹ֧ד יִפְקֹ֣ד אֶתְכֶ֗ם וְהֶעֱלָ֤ה אֶתְכֶם֙ מִן־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֔את אֶל־הָאָ֕רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִשְׁבַּ֛ע לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם לְיִצְחָ֖ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃
25 וַיַּשְׁבַּ֣ע יוֹסֵ֔ף אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר פָּקֹ֨ד יִפְקֹ֤ד אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶתְכֶ֔ם וְהַעֲלִתֶ֥ם אֶת־עַצְמֹתַ֖י מִזֶּֽה׃
26 וַיָּ֣מָת יוֹסֵ֔ף בֶּן־מֵאָ֥ה וָעֶ֖שֶׂר שָׁנִ֑ים וַיַּחַנְט֣וּ אֹת֔וֹ וַיִּ֥ישֶׂם בָּאָר֖וֹן בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃
Vul
1 Quod cernens Joseph, ruit super faciem patris, flens et deosculans eum.
2 Prcepitque servis suis medicis ut aromatibus condirent patrem.
3 Quibus jussa explentibus, transierunt quadraginta dies: iste quippe mos erat cadaverum conditorum: flevitque eum gyptus septuaginta diebus.
4 Et expleto planctus tempore, locutus est Joseph ad familiam Pharaonis: Si inveni gratiam in conspectu vestro, loquimini in auribus Pharaonis:
5 eo quod pater meus adjuraverit me dicens: En morior: in sepulchro meo, quod fodi mihi in terra Chanaan, sepelies me. Ascendam igitur, et sepeliam patrem meum, ac revertar.
6 Dixitque ei Pharao: Ascende, et sepeli patrem tuum sicut adjuratus es.
7 Quo ascendente, ierunt cum eo omnes senes domus Pharaonis, cunctique majores natu terr gypti:
8 domus Joseph cum fratribus suis, absque parvulis, et gregibus atque armentis, qu dereliquerant in terra Gessen.
9 Habuit quoque in comitatu currus et equites: et facta est turba non modica.
10 Veneruntque ad Aream Atad, qu sita est trans Jordanem: ubi celebrantes exequias planctu magno atque vehementi impleverunt septem dies.
11 Quod cum vidissent habitatores terr Chanaan, dixerunt: Planctus magnus est iste gyptiis. Et idcirco vocatum est nomen loci illius, Planctus gypti.
12 Fecerunt ergo filii Jacob sicut prceperat eis:
13 et portantes eum in terram Chanaan, sepelierunt eum in spelunca duplici, quam emerat Abraham cum agro in possessionem sepulchri ab Ephron Hetho, contra faciem Mambre.
14 Reversusque est Joseph in gyptum cum fratribus suis, et omni comitatu, sepulto patre.
15 Quo mortuo, timentes fratres ejus, et mutuo colloquentes: Ne forte memor sit injuri quam passus est, et reddat nobis omne malum quod fecimus,
16 mandaverunt ei dicentes: Pater tuus prcepit nobis antequam moreretur,
17 ut hc tibi verbis illius diceremus: Obsecro ut obliviscaris sceleris fratrum tuorum, et peccati atque maliti quam exercuerunt in te: nos quoque oramus ut servis Dei patris tui dimittas iniquitatem hanc. Quibus auditis flevit Joseph.
18 Veneruntque ad eum fratres sui: et proni adorantes in terram, dixerunt: Servi tui sumus.
19 Quibus ille respondit: Nolite timere: num Dei possumus resistere voluntati?
20 Vos cogitastis de me malum: sed Deus vertit illud in bonum, ut exaltaret me, sicut in prsentiarum cernitis, et salvos faceret multos populos.
21 Nolite timere: ego pascam vos et parvulos vestros: consolatusque est eos, et blande ac leniter est locutus.
22 Et habitavit in gypto cum omni domo patris sui: vixitque centum decem annis. Et vidit Ephraim filios usque ad tertiam generationem. Filii quoque Machir filii Manasse nati sunt in genibus Joseph.
23 Quibus transactis, locutus est fratribus suis: Post mortem meam Deus visitabit vos, et ascendere vos faciet de terra ista ad terram quam juravit Abraham, Isaac et Jacob.
24 Cumque adjurasset eos atque dixisset: Deus visitabit vos, asportate ossa mea vobiscum de loco isto:
25 mortuus est, expletis centum decem vit su annis. Et conditus aromatibus, repositus est in loculo in gypto.
